School of Physics and Electronic Engineering was formally established in 2008.Our history can be traced back in 1956 when a physics specialization was set up and a Physics Department was established to start recruiting undergraduate studentsin 1958.There are two undergraduate programs, Department of physics and Optoelectronic Information Engineering.
In the course of our over six decades of construction and development, the school has established a comprehensive discipline system, with a strong faculty of teachers, a good tradition of academic research, and a number of scholars who have enjoyed a reputation in the domestic academia. Train a number of academic backbone with certain academic influence.There are 78 faculty members, including 20 professors, 27 associate professors, 3 doctoral tutors, 27 master tutors, 36 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 4 post-doctors.There is one professor nominated as ‘State-level Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert’ by the Ministry of Education. Two professorswere nominated as ‘Longjiang Scholars’ and two professorswere listed as ‘Outstanding Youth Fund Winners’ by the provincial government.One professor was nominated as ‘Eminent Teacher’by the provincial government.Two professorsawarded the special government allowances of the State Council, and one professor enjoyedthe provincial government special allowance. There are about 1300 undergraduatesand about 120 master students in school.
Scientific researches and the construction of subjects and degree programs have been developing rapidly in recent years. In 1999, it was authorized the Second-level Master's Degree Program in condensed matter physics. In 2006, the First-level Master’s Degree Program was authorized, and the Ph.D. Degree authorization centers of the First-level subject of physics was approved in 2018. In 1998, condensed matter physics was approved as the key disciplines of Heilongjiang province. In 2005, physics was approved as the key major of Heilongjiang province. In 2011, physics was rated as the key discipline in Heilongjiang Province. In 2013, the discipline of condensed matter physics was selected as the training target for the “535 Project” of the leading talent team in Heilongjiang Province. The college has successively established the Key Laboratory of Photoelectric Bandgap Materials,Ministry of Education, the Provincial Physics Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center, the Key Laboratory of Advanced Functional Materials and Excited State Physics, the Low-Dimensional System, and the Mesoscopic Physics KeyLaboratory.
The scientific research work of the college is guided by the service of local economic and social development and basic scientific research. It not only encourages the original research, but also actively promotes the application research based on the major scientific and technological needs of the country and the local. Meanwhile, it advocates the cross collaboration between different disciplines, and has gained many reseach results which have important influence both at home and abroad. The team of scientific and technological innovation of "Condensed matter physics" has become one of the first ten innovation teams in the first batch of Department of Education of Heilongjiang Province. The "condensed physics" tutor team has been named as the provincial excellent tutor team.
In the past sixty years of history, the school of physics and electronic engineering trained nearly 10000 undergraduates and more than 500 graduate students for our country. Students have solid basic knowledge, outstanding professional skills, comprehensive ability and quality. They are generally welcomed and fully recognized by the employers. The employment rate is over 90% each year.
In the face of new opportunities and challenges, new steps have been takento recruit and cultivate outstanding academic scholars; to continue to explore and improve the training system for quality education; to further active the atmosphere of academic discussion; to establish a cooperative relationship with first-class universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad, and to improve the reputation of the college. We will further improve the teaching and scientific research facilities of the college, and aim at training more talents in the field of physics and electronic information science and technology.
